Sovereign 17
|
In
the film Quantum of Solace Sunseeker boats will feature once
again, a very eairly Sunseeker Sovereign 17 (left) (known as
Poole Powerboats Sovereign 17 at that time) with Sunseeker boss
Robert Braithwaite in a cameo role at the wheel. Right, a bit
more info about the Sovereign 17.
Sunseeker's
Superhawk 43 and their 37 metre yacht also appear in the film

Above
a Sunseeker Superhawk 43 was on on display at the 2009 London
boatshow at the ExCel centre.
Not the one from
the film as the deck layout is not as it appeard is in the
film.

I
thought I would inculed the pictures below of the Aston Martin
DBS, because it too was at the ExCel London boatshow. The car
is the actual one that appeard in the Quantum of Solace so worth
a look. |

A Sunseeker 37m Yacht named M4 above also had a roll in the film.
The 108 Predator in Casino Royale was named M3.

Sunseeker's Predator 108 in Casino Royale
Above the
film boat for sale at the 2006 Fort Lauderdale boat show
 |
At the Fort Lauderdale
Boat Show, 26th-30th October 2006, the Predator 108 from Casino
Royale was for sale and could be yours for £4,600,000
(plus tax of course). For that, you have a total of 7,200 hp
on triple Arneson surface drives which will give it a top speed
speed of 42 knots, very fast for a boat weighing in at 76000kg
/ 167600lb. But
will it make you smile like the XS 2000 when flat out, I think
not. The XS is the one to have, saving yourself £4,500,000.
Second hand prices are from about £100,000 tax included.
A Sunseeker Sportsfisher (pictured right) also finds its way
into the film.

This Sunseeker XS
2000, as featured in the new James Bond Film, Casino Royale,
was on display at the
Powerboat P1 World Championships in Cowes on the
Isle of Wight, 25-27 August 2006. Sunseeker Sales Group had
an XS 2000 racing in the P1 for the first time where it finished
5th and 2nd - not bad for your first time out!!!! All the best
for next year, results will be posted on this site.

At the 2005 Southampton
Boat Show, I saw this beautiful black and silver Sunseeker XS
2000 on display. Little did I know that this would be one of
the boats in the new James Bond film - "Casino Royale"
- out Thursday 16th November 2006. The World Premiere is taking
place on Tuesday 14th November in London, followed by dozens
of local regional charity premieres across the country on Wednesday
15th November.

The pictures on the
left are not of the film boat but they will give a guide to
how the front seating would be. The seating area has a sliding
hatch which is best closed when under way, it looks better!

logos in action at Cowes August 06 and on display at Southampton
Boat Show - September 06 - in very British colours.

For the 2007 Powerboat
P1 season Sunseeker's Challenger XS has new engines fitted,
they are Iveco FPT NEF 400 which are 480 hp each this will give
the boat 80hp (total) more than the old Yanmars. Will the extra
weight of the new engines give them any advantage over the old.
Maybe the new air
intakes will help!
In the 2008 P1 race at Marseille, (France) May 24-25th The Sunseeker
Challenger had a sinking while taking a corner during practice,
don't know how it could happen but it did.
After working to get the boat ready to race again P1 Powerboat
Cancel the flagship home event for Team Sunseeker the Cowes-Torquay-Cowes
race, so together with this and the sinking of the boat Sunseeker
Challenger will not be contesting the remaining three Grand
Prix of the Sea events of the 2008 season.
|
The
2008 race boat above has now been sold after a full repair, so
this means the 2006 race boat is now for sale, that is the one
seen racing at Cowes 06 above top. No more racing from this team
